What are my career goals?
I declared communication as my major relatively late compared to most after feeling drawn to many pathways throughout my life and time in school. Once I started down this path, I knew it was right. I always tell people that communication has many doors that one can go into. I found my love for graphic design in high school, being recruited to create flyers for events, being a website designer/branding designer in Virtual Enterprise, and designing layouts for the yearbook. I quickly realized I had a natural eye for design—and, more importantly, I loved it!
I have had the opportunity to pursue this passion further during my time at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and try on some of the different doors that are available through communication, such as PR and marketing.
Graphic design, social media management, and layout design (for magazines, websites, PR documents, etc.) is what I am most drawn to and what I would like to continue to do after graduation in December 2025. News and blog writing and photography also interest me a great deal, leading to publications on Rising Rock Media and Visit Chattanooga/Chattanooga Tourism Company. I feel especially drawn to the travel and outdoor communities. The vibrant experiences and adventures that arise in these settings are incredibly inspiring and tend to create connections in communities.
My goal is to find a career that sustains my creative nature—whether in graphic design, social media, or marketing—while allowing me to explore new opportunities as I grow.
