Hi, I’m Emily.
I am a Communication major at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, with experience in journalism, graphic design, and social media management.
About Me
I have developed a passion for storytelling, using my creativity to highlight the heart of the Chattanooga community. I am committed to making a meaningful impact by sharing honest stories with compassion and care. Chattanooga has always felt like home to me and, over the years, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the Scenic City’s authenticity and rich culture. After spending my first year of college in Clarksville focused on graphic design, I realized just how strongly I connected to Chattanooga’s unique character — which led me to transfer to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to pursue communication and business.
Accomplishments
-
I have contributed to telling impactful stories about local people and organizations through this experiential learning Capstone class. I honed my skills in storytelling through audio recording and editing, news feature writing, and photojournalism techniques.
-
I began helping at the Walden’s Ridge Civic League in 2023 as a volunteer, but quickly was asked to keep the Facebook updated. This includes creating eye-catching and inspiring graphics and written posts for the 4 main events at the community center based on Signal Mountain.
-
My strong skills in graphic design led me to excel in Publication Design, a course focused on learning Adobe programs. Not only did I earn a perfect score, but my professor also invited me to join the advanced class. Throughout the course, I created a variety of graphics, including a magazine cover and spread I designed around my vision for vintage clothing and home goods.
-
Visit Chattanooga selected my work during my junior year while taking Exploring Chattanooga’s Music Scene class, a class created to get students out of a classroom to document musicians and venues in the city.
Community, Craft Beer, and Laughs: Comedy Open Mic Night at Wanderlinger Brewing Co
Through my collaboration with Visit Chattanooga in the 'Exploring Chattanooga's Music Scene' class, I had the opportunity to highlight Wanderlinger Brewing Co.'s Comedy Open Mic Night and the talented individuals behind it.
